Private tutor in Wellesley, MA
Dartmouth College - BA, Psychology , University of Michigan-Ann Arbor - PhD, American Studies
I obtained my BA in Psychology from Dartmouth College. I then graduated from University of Wisconsin and received my MA in Afro-American Studies. I later went on to receive my PhD in American Studies from the University of Michigan. Before starting graduate school, I worked for six years as a math teacher in a CT boarding school.I recently worked as an American Studies and History professor at Wellesley College. I offered material that dove into various topics such as popular culture, sport studies, U.S. history, hip hop culture, and higher education history. All of those topics required my students to further study things such as gender, race, and class.I not only lectured on a variety of topics, I helped my students improve their research skills. I also helped them develop their strategic outlining, critical reading, and editing skills so that they could get the best outcome on both their papers and exams.I have been a tutor for secondary school students, correctional facility inmates, undergrads, and UW and UM college football players. My goal is to help make sure that my students are able to learn in their own way. By moving at a reasonable pace, I am able to maximize the amount of material covered while reducing tension.During my free time, I enjoy sports, such as soccer, and spending time with my family.
